As many may be aware, the HJ Daley Library is moving and in connection with the move Campbelltown Library wants to honour the memory of HJ Daley by having the community move his War medals from their current place to their new location in the new library in Queen Street.
This event will be held on the afternoon of Saturday 28 June 2025.
HJ Daley was the Town Clerk of Ingleburn and Campbelltown Councils for 41 years. He served in World War II and was captured and held in Changi POW camp.
The Campbelltown Library have been working with the Daley Family to meet this goal and we are inviting local community groups to participate on the day. The afternoon will start at the existing Library with the medals being returned to the family and then we are hoping 1000 people will hand the medals up queen street to the new library, where they will be handed back. The parade will then continue to Mawson Park where the participants will receive a sausage sandwich and drink from the Lions Club.
All involved want to ensure that the movement of the medals is done respectfully and build the communities knowledge of him and his sacrifices and his dreams for the Campbelltown Community.
If you are interested in this, feel free to pass this information to other Individuals or groups that you think may be interested or have a connection with HJ Daley or the Military History of Campbelltown.
A formal registration process will begin soon.
